On Dec. 21st, the NYS Board of Elections released the final vote count for the 2016 elections. This includes absentee and military ballots. My final total was, 2,686 votes, or 2.5% of all votes cast in the district. I was hoping for at least 2,500, so I’m pleased with the results.
This year I’ll be running for City Council District 18 in the Bronx. I hope to receive an even higher vote total. This is my real home base. It’s where I’ve lived since I was a year old; It’s where I went to school from kindergarten through high school; it’s where I’ve worked most of the jobs I’ve had, including my time as a Paraprofessional with the NYC Dept. of Education.
Yesterday, I filed with the Board of Elections and opened my campaign bank account. Next stop: filing my campaign with the NYC Campaign Finance Board.
Once again, I want to thank the nearly 2,700 voters who chose to buck the mainstream corporate-capitalist parties and vote for the hope and systemic change my campaign represented.
